Before We Were Monsters is fully funded. For the past 30 days we’ve been crowdfunding, and I’m blown away by the support of our friends, family, and fellow filmmakers. 131 of you financially supported the film with your hard-earned money. You didn’t have to. You did it because you believe in what we’re doing. You believe in us, in our mission to use movies to build connection and community.
We talk a lot about community, but to see it actually show up and believe in what we’re doing, to believe… it just blows my mind. And proves that we (and you) are not alone on this journey.

What’s Next.
Before We Were Monsters is now fully funded and ready to roll. While we were doing this crowd-funding campaign, we were also reaching out to equity investors, and we now have our entire budget raised. I’ll dive into the details of this past month (including sharing our investor pitch deck and crowdfunding data) in another post soon, but here’s a tentative schedule.
August 2026 — We start shooting in Atlanta, GA. It’s gonna be here before we know it and we still have SO much to do but couldn’t be more excited!
Fall 2026 — Spring 2027 — Post-production.
Fall 2027 — We start our festival run at whatever fests we can get into.
Summer 2028 — We take the movie on tour (with blu-rays!).
Fall 2028 — Digital release.
And we want to bring you on the journey. We want to share a window into the process that you don’t normally get to see. Help us put a plan in place!
